I've been quiet for a while now. It's been mostly because of the recent heatwave in the UK. In June and July I don't really go walking in the morning as the sunrise is too early. But for an evening walk the temperature was always too hot. Beside this all the vegetation literally dried out so there is not much green tones left except the leaves on the trees. Fortunately this is holiday time and we planned this year to visit the Lake District. I was really looking forward to it and it did not disappoint us.

When we arrived in the early afternoon I decided to go somewhere for a Sunset shoot. We stayed in the beautiful B&B of Muncaster Castle. This is the south-west part of the Lake District so the closest lake is Wastwater. I checked the weather forecast and I knew it wasn't going to be a clear Sunset but I still hoped some nice colours. I didn't get them. Instead I got really interesting moody clouds. I didn't mind because mostly this is what you get at the Lake District. You have to live there or have to have extreme luck for a nice cloudless Sunset. It was rather a discovery then a planned photo shoot but I was satisfied the result I was given.

Next day we took the Raveglass-Eskdale steamer. As they promise the scenery is spectacular. I would recommend it to anybody.

At Dalegarth station we had a nice cup of tea and then headed for a walk to visit Blea Tarn. It's around a 4.5 miles long moderate circular walk with some beautiful views of Eskdale. 

Leaving Brook House Inn and the cottages you can check out Eskdale Mill. On the way up the scenery is just amazing, it's really the walkers' paradise. And of course landscape photographers'. :)

After reaching Blea Tarn the path starts to descend steeply but again the scenery you get is breathtaking. I stopped here and took some portrait shots to create a panorama of them. It was well worth.

We arrived back to Dalegarth station around 2pm. We had a nice lunch and then we decided to walk it off along the river.

It was just a around 2 miles and at the end of the walk it started to rain. But still we enjoyed it and of course I stopped for a couple of shots because I just couldn't resist.

It was raining when we took the steamer back to Ravenglass but we didn't mind at all. We spend a great day at this wonderful part of the Lake District.

In the evening the weather forecast promised less clouds so I decided to return to Wastwater. This time it was completely different. I managed to capture it in sunshine. Unfortunately just before Sunset the low clouds just sneaked in preventing again the nice reddish-orangish colours. But I didn't bothered at all as this is how the Lake District welcomes you most of the time. To give it a twist in the end I took a long exposure.
